About Us
We are a community-led group that is exploring ways to ensure the River Nith and its catchment is recognised as a significant part of the region’s sustainability plans for the future.
We welcome everyone interested in the River Nith and its catchment.
We have a mailing list of people interested in news, events, activities, both cultural and scientific towards bringing life to the river Nith, if you want to be added to out mailing list, please fill in the form at the bottom of this page.
We try to organise monthly public meetings and talks, in the summer these are generally outdoor meetings and in the winter they are indoors, check out the Whats on page for details of future and past events.
We have a working group made up of volunteers who meet regularly to organise our projects and coordinate our actions with our partners.
We aim to bring together local communities, land managers, artists, scientists and partner organisations to improve understanding of the river’s environmental health, cultural heritage and role in climate resilience. Our work includes citizen science and wildlife monitoring, community consultations, public talks and events, and creative and cultural activities that help people connect with the river. We also support collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the Nith catchment to ensure the river is recognised as a vital asset in local sustainability planning.
By combining environmental action, education, culture and community engagement, Nith Life aims to strengthen care for the River Nith as a living system that supports biodiversity, wellbeing and a sustainable local future.
