February 2026 public meeting
Take part in a relaxed, two‑hour community workshop exploring how floods, droughts and climate change are shaping local emotions, wellbeing and knowledge. Through an open group discussion and a hands‑on mapping activity, participants will share experiences, and help build a community‑informed hazard map for the Nith area. The insights will contribute to research on climate change and mental health, while also helping create a practical resource for communities to use to prepare for flood events. All contributions will be brought together into a digital map reflecting community voices. Tea, biscuits and a warm welcome provided.
See The Whats on page for details
January 2026 public meeting
The first Nith Life meeting of 2026 will be a joint meeting with the Dumfries Writers group at The Bridge in Dumfries. We wil be sharing stories, videos and photos all based around the Nith catchment. We hope that this will be the start of collaboration to inspire both groups.
Ed Forrest – Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere
August 2023
“We’ve been supporting Nith Life because it really encapsulates much of the Biosphere ethos of a “bottom up” approach that seeks to deliver a harmonious relationship between people and nature.
We think it has a really exciting and dynamic range of people involved from local environmentalists and creatives to the wider community and we’re interested in seeing how we can support them in celebrating and engaging with the Nith which is the longest river in our UNESCO Biosphere.”
